Mental Health Carer Support Group
July 25 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 10:00 am on day Fourth of the month, repeating until 21/05/2020
Woolgoolga now has its own support group for carers and family members living with mental health.
Mission Australia invite you to share your experiences in a kind and safe environment.
No one ever thinks it will happen to them, yet one in five people in Australia will suffer from a mental illness at some stage in their lives.
Carers are usually family members or friends who provide support to adults and children living with a mental illness. Carers can be parents, partners, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends or children of any age.
Some carers are eligible for government benefits, while others are employed or have a private income. These people all provide unpaid, informal care. Each care situation is different, with Carers providing assistance ranging from administering medication, helping with finances, transportation, accommodation, meals, social support and keeping a close eye on health and welfare.
Whatever the level of care provided, caring responsibilities do have an impact on the individual and their families.
The goal of our Carer Support Group is to increase the Carers’ sense of control over their own lives.
