The Minister for Social Security, the Hon Christian Porter MP has just announced that three of our local volunteer groups will benefit from the latest round of Volunteer Grants from the Federal Government.

The volunteers at the local Woolgoolga Art Gallery have received funding for a new hanging system for displaying artworks as well as a security camera system to make the work of volunteers in the Gallery easier and safer. The Gallery has been going from strength to strength recently including adding outdoor art events on the Beach Reserve to its annual program of exhibitions.

Our Chamber of Commerce has also received funding for a new external LED lit notice board for the Visitors Information Centre (to display tourist information for visitors) and volunteer vests and a marquee for use at Curryfest and other community events where our local volunteers proudly help to promote our town.

Our Community Garden Group also received funding to help volunteers work on establishing the community gardens on Scarborough Street.

Minister Porter has written to congratulate the local groups and their volunteers and these items will certainly make life easier for our volunteers as well as assisting them in attracting and welcoming visitors to our town.
